Our number one concern is the safety of our clients. We require all dogs that come to be updated on their vaccinations, and that puppies finish their puppy vaccinations. Typically, puppy vaccinations include 4 rounds of shots, but your vet can inform you of exactly when it is safe for your pup to come.
We also recommend that your pup is at least 4 months old. This allows them time to grow up a bit and will help the training 'stick'. When we take younger pups, the effort owners have to put in once the pup is home is much more due to the puppy's very short attention span. It's like trying to teach a toddler to be still and focus. Developmentally, it's just hard for them at that stage of life.
All your pet will need is enough food for the length of their stay. We understand that many pets have beds, toys, blankets, etc. that they like to sleep/play with in their kennels. However, we ask that owners would please leave those at home. While your pet is with us, it is likely they will experience a slight increase in stress level for the first few days. A common outlet for this feeling is chewing. Your pet's safety is our number one priority and we would hate for them to ingest anything they're not supposed to while staying with us.
No. Your dog will only be kenneled inside at night (usually 10pm-7am) or due to inclement weather where it is not safe for them to be outside (rain, extreme heat or cold, etc). We are located on 34 acres and your dog will get a minimum of two runs around the property per day. Length will be determined by their health and activity level. We also have outdoor runs and fenced areas for them to be outside during the day when they're not training or playing.
Yes. HOWEVER, in order for us to keep ourselves safe as well as your dog, you must be completely forthcoming with all instances the dog has shown aggression. We reserve the right to send any aggressive dog home / end a lesson at any time if the owners have been dishonest, withheld information, or we feel that the situation is unsafe. Training your dog is a team effort between owner and trainer. Honesty and communication is essential if you want your dog to succeed.
While we do raise certain breeds, we train all. We have experience with breeds ranging from Chihuahuas and Dachshunds to Doodles and Golden Retrievers to Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds.
The areas where we keep boarders are entirely fenced with secure gates for access. They will be continuously supervised when they are exercising. At night, they are kenneled in a secure building and there is always someone one on the property. As an extra measure of safety, we also supply FI tracking collars for them to wear for the duration of their stay. This ensures that we know exactly where they are at all times.
We teach through motivation, so that means that we need something to motivate your pup!
Please bring their favorite treats and toys. If you have anything else you typically use to train such as a clicker, treat pouch, etc. please bring those as well. We are not looking to change how you are already working with your pup but simply help you reach your goals.
One caveat with the treats you bring: bring a few different options. Once you are at the farm, there will be lots of new smells and sights. These thing can be very distracting, and if your treat is just kibble, your pup may not be very interested. Something high-value such as chicken may be much more productive.
